Resolved Question: How to rid a home of a permeated air freshener smell?

My mom has rented an apartment. The tenant before her used those Glade Plug-ins. My mom is highly allergic to these sorts of chemicals. Does anyone have any idea how to get the smell out? The landlord painted (don't know if he painted the ceiling), but he didn't paint the closets. He used eco friendly paint and there is no paint smell. He also tore up the carpets and put low VOC flooring down because she told him about her allergies. My mom also rented one of those professional machines that can get smoke/smells out of a house when there is a fire. She had it on for two days. When the people took it out, she left the house shut up, hoping the ozone would rid the smell. Several days later, we went in and the smell knocked you down at the door. It almost seems worse since the machine. Please help me and tell me if you know of something that for sure will work. Only serious answers please! more

Resolved Question: Has anyone heard anything about Glade air freshener plug ins causing fires?

Got an e- mail about it today and was wondering if this is true or just another hoax. It said that the plastic on the units is to thin, which causes it to overheat and causing fires. Since it totally disintergrates in the fire, that there is nothing left to prove it. Is this another hoax? Thanks MCM for the link. I'm sure glade I didn't forward the e.mail to anyone. more

Resolved Question: Can glade plug-ins reallly cause a house fire?

I read in an e-mail recently that plug-in air fresheners can melt and result in a fire. Is this true? more
